The latest News from Parliament and from the Northern Region
Constituency Question – Energy supply and prices
My constituency question is to the Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change. I ask the minister what assurances she can provide that many concerned constituents of mine in Northern Victoria will not experience further power outages under the Andrews government, including during next summer.
Member Statement – Yackandandah Health
In July I had the pleasure of visiting the Yackandandah Health facility, a community-owned, not-for-profit organisation nestled in the beautiful Yackandandah Valley in north-east Victoria. Based on the bush nursing model, the site is home to 77 residents within the residential aged-care facility.
Constituency Question-Winton Raceway Funding
My constituency question is to the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events. I would also like to ask the minister to clarify how much funding the government has allocated to future editions of this event.
Motion to strengthen parole conditions
I've moved a motion to strengthen parole conditions on violent and sexual recidivist offenders with restrictions on where they can live.
Question without Notice – Black Spur
Tania Maxwell has again questioned the Victorian Government on a review of safety conditions on the Black Spur, calling for “serious practical improvements to the useability and safety and/or the development of a viable, alternative route”.
Adjournment – Guardianship and VCAT
My adjournment matter is for the Attorney-General and is on specific problems in the administration of guardianship arrangements. My constituents in Northern Victoria Region are alerting me to those particular situations where a patient is ready for discharge from hospital but where it has also been decided they will need a guardian to help oversee their lifestyle, their personal decision making and/or their recovery and subsequent care. There is often a protracted wait for a guardianship application to be processed through VCAT.
