The Inquiry is being conducted by the Legislative Council’s Legal and Social Issues Committee, of which I am a member, and is considering the state of homelessness in Victoria, particularly:

•  the changing scale and nature of homelessness in Victoria;
• the many social and economic factors that impact on homelessness;
•  policies and practices for delivering services to the homeless.

I was joined at my Media Doorstop by representatives from the Centre Against Violence and the Rural City of Wangaratta in advocating for a hearing to be held in Wangaratta as part of the Inquiry’s regional schedule. I feel strongly that the Inquiry will benefit from conducting a hearing here, enabling local organisations and people directly experiencing homelessness with the opportunity to talk directly to the Committee about these specific issues.
